After ascertaining the adequacy of the anesthetic, a Pfannenstiel ncision was made approximately 3 fingers breaths above the pubic symphysis and carried down to the level of the fascia. The fascia was dissected off the underlying rectus muscles. A transverse curvilinear incision was made in the lower uterine segment and extended upward and aterally. Fetal membranes were ruptured and a viable male infant was delivered. Umbilical cord was doubly clamped and cut. The placenta was delivered by manual extraction. The uterus was exteriorized.
