Water Lily Lab- Dissection, Stain, Microscopy, Labelling
A- In some labs, it can be given water Lillie’s and the stain Safranin to produce quality images of microscopy for plant structures.
1. The stain picks up better in some parts of the plants than others – why?
2. Which would you expect to stain better – a leaf or a stem? Why?
B- For each of the images attached below, see if you can deduce what part of the plant that the sample was taken from, and label pertinent information (structures, cell types).
Also, there is a total of 5 water lily plant parts (check magnification, some images are zoomed and repeated).
