Submit a reflective composition that explores your ideas and thoughts in relation to reading the poetry of Ocean Vuong. For this assignment, please choose the poem “Amazon History Of A Former Nail Salon Worker” and the poem ” Nothing” from Ocean Vuong’s book – Time Is A Mother – that exemplify to you what it means to be human.
Then, please write what you think these particular poems are saying and especially why you think these particular poems are interesting and relate to our class theme of what it means to be human. It is my hope that you explain in your composition what you have gained from reading Vuong’s work.
For the Reflective Composition, please be sure to explain/discuss the following:
- why you chose the poems and how you interpret them (interpretation should be well-supported)
- please identify three poetic elements Vuong utilizes in the poems you have selected and discuss their importance
- what you learned about poetry from doing this assignment
Remember, a reflective composition allows you to share your reflections and analysis regarding what you have read and experienced.
For this composition, please use Ocean Vuong’s book as your primary source. This is a reflective composition assignment. You are welcome to use more sources. These sources can be readings from the class, but they don’t have to be; if you want to bring in other sources, you are welcome to do that.
