Some of the ways that Greek and Roman civilizations differed were in the materials they used to create art. The Greeks often used bronze to create sculptures and art, while Romans primarily used Marble. Another determining factor for how these civilizations differed can be identified by the names of the Gods and Goddesses they believed in. Some of the significant characteristics that make these civilizations recognizable are their architecture. Although there are a lot of similarities and shared structures and foundations, there are some slight differences between the two. Much Roman design has been built around the post and lintel architecture, whereas Greece was primarily known for principal orders of ancient and classical architecture (I.e., Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian).
Based on their Artistic styles, you can tell how proud these civilizations were to be human. In their artworks, they are always showcasing the human body and all of its perfections. I believe they may have been trying to make similarities to the God they felt, creating most of these artworks in the forms of humans, with relaxed stances, offset, non-symmetrical, etc. In contrast, many contemporaries are, and even architecture takes on many of the similarities we have seen throughout history from Greek and Roman civilizations. These ideas and expressions still have relevance in the world today.
